JOE ROMAN & THE WHITE ANGELS AT THE U.S. MUSIC AWARDS

We find the band @ their private studio having a jam session. They're playing a pop disco beat tune, having a good time messing on a song. Fred was a little depressed because he had to shake a tambourine, instead of playing the marimba.

After the jam, the band thought it sounded ok & could use some work. Fred then instructed Joe, Jason & Eric to play that same disco rhythm riff. When they played, Fred played a cool funky marimba solo. After that jam, Fred asked,

"Did you like that marimba riff? Why not fit that into the song?"

"Fred," explained Frank, "Our next album's going to have some changes. You're playing less marimba & more tambourine, Ben's playing more congas & less vibes & those two drumheads will play one tympani fanfare/drumroll each! We got to change our music."

"Ray Walters collaborated with you, didn't he?" angered Fred, "He hates up because we play the vibes, marimba & chimes. Just remember, Tropical Breezes is the song the band's famous for!"

Fred & Ben got into an argument with Frank & as it was heating up, Ray Walters entered.

"Cool it!" he yelled, "I got some news to pass on."

The band got off their instruments & sat down listening to Ray.

"I'm proud to announce that The White Angels are nominated for a lot of US Music Awards: Best Instrumental Band, Best Pop Band, Best Male Vocalist in a Band (Joe) & Tropical Breezes for Best Song. I'm glad that Ben & Fred made the marimba & vibes work in the band."

The band cheered even though Fred stared @ Frank for dissin him.

"Now for the boring part," said Ray, "A couple of days before the telecast, they hand out minor awards not televised, like Best Polka Album, Best Spoken Word, you get the idea. The band is nominated for the following; Frank & Vicki for Best Pop Trumpeter, Jason; Best Bass Guitarist, Joe & Bart; Best Guitarist, Ben & Fred; Best Mallet Percussionist & finally for Best Tympanist, Eric!"

Eric started whooping & hollering, "I'm the man! The He-Man of the band!"

"Eric!" snapped Ray, "You'll be competing against three other symphony orchestra tympanists. What a weird nomination, why would they choose Eric?"

Eric took off his shirt & played a tympani drumroll yelling,

"The beefcake has talent!" stops playing.     "Why weren't we nominated?" asked David & Cody.

"The voting took place before you joined the band. Sorry." Ray said, "Unfortunately, we'll have to sit through that five hour ceremony in New York City before appearing on the televised part. You'll be performing Tropical Breezes."

The band was excited about their nominations.     Outside of Philadelphia, we find a school bus visiting Grandpa Dewey's Puppy Farm/Miniature Golf Course. Liz & Scott's class took a field trip there.

"I feel so guilty leaving Matty @ home." said Scott to Liz, remembering what happened that morning. As Scott left his bedroom, Matty came to him saying,

"Baby puppy wanna go on field trip to puppy mill!"

"You can't go to school, Matty! You're not a teacher's pet & Nathan Lane's not your voice!"

Matty started crying like a baby saying,     "I'll cry until I dehydrate myself just like Mr. Jolly, the cat does!"

Scott rushed downstairs into the pantry & went back upstairs & gave Matty a couple of dog biscuits to stop his crying.

"What a sensitive dog." said Scott.

During the tour, Granpa Dewey showed off his favorite mother dog.

"This is Buttercup!" he said, "She's been a good provider to all her puppies before they are grown & sold to pet stores. Except for a little runt she had, she's a good dog."

          "What's a runt?" asked a kid.

"A runt's a dog who causes trouble." he said. As they left for refreshments & miniature golf, Liz went over to her & petted her saying,

"You'd make a great mother dog for our baby puppy Matty."

Liz was amazed when Buttercup asked,

"That wouldn't happen to be the runt? I once had a puppy who cried for attention always saying 'Baby Puppy'. The master didn't like him & decided to kill him."

          "What happened?" asked Liz.

Grandma Daisy came by & told her,

"I took that runt & made him my baby. I even made him wear diapers."

"That's Matty!" exclaimed Liz, "But he doesn't wear diapers anymore."

"Anyway," explained Grandma, "Near Christmas, Santa comes by to get puppies from our farm & deliver them to nice homes."

"Do you know Brian?" asked Liz.

"That Hollywood TV-ham," quipped Buttercup, "That's my brother. Please take me home, I would love to visit my only puppy that was taken from me."

"I'd love to take you home." said Liz joyfully.     "Sorry, she's not available." said Grandpa.

That Sunday, the band's @ New York City attending the US Music Awards for technical merit, minor categories & best musicians held @ Radio City for five hours. They saw who won Best Polka Album, Best Spoken Word & other categories most people don't give a fig about.

Hours later, they arrived @ Best Musicians Categories. However, there was confusion with the envelopes. An usher informed the host & told the audience,

"Folks, it turns out that some categories are hard to decide & that we have possible ties. Some of the categories are being re-voted & some aren't. Just like the 1988 Miss America Pageant & the 2000 Presidential Election did people have to wait awhile in these situations for a decision to happen."

About 30 minutes later, the envelopes were finally given to the host. The first 13 categories were for symphony orchestra instruments. Then came Best Tympanist, the host read the nominations for that category & couldn't believe that Eric made the list out of symphony musicians.

"And the winner is," opens the envelope, "What a bizarre category this turns out to be, Eric Hunter of TWA!"

Eric leaped out of his seat & started running down the aisle like if he was told to come on down & play The Prize Is Priced. Eric got up on stage, kissed the assistant who handed his award (a golden CD).

"The hottie hunk did it!" exclaimed Eric, "This body & talent did it! I'd like to thank Zack Roberts of The Beach Dudes for inspiring me to play an instrument that hardly find in rock bands. My wife Tina, my son Derek, Mrs. Enid our domestic & thanks for the band for putting up with me & for Frank who's a best friend that gave me a chance to be a part of the band! White Angels rule!"

After the symphony orchestra, they turned to country musicians. About an hour later, they reached the jazz category since TWA was considered jazz. First up was Best Trumpeter. Frank & Vicki were stunned because that honor went to Spice Albert of The Nuevo Laredo Brass. Then Jason won his award for Best Bass Guitarist.

Then Best Guitarist came up. Joe was pretty confident that he'd snatch that honor. But was stunned that the winner was, Bart Smith! Bart went up to the podium to get his gold CD & said,

"I didn't expect this, I thought Joe Roman would be up here since he's lead guitarist. I'd like to thank Frank for pushing me to play the guitar, but known as a sax man. My wife Lashandra & kids Homer & Jean. This is awesome that a rhythm guitarist gets this honor, I only play 2 guitar soloes in our concerts. To Joe Roman, thanks for sharing our guitar duties with me. God bless!"

The next category's Best Mallet Percussionist. The host read the nominees & when he opened the envelope,

"I can't believe it! We have a tie! It goes to both Sanders, Ben & Fred!"

Ben & Fred both went up & got their gold CDs. Ben spoke first,

"I like to thank my high school band director for encouraging me to play the vibes & for Frank to let me write my own vibraphone arrangements & encourages me to play soloes. This is for my wife Velma. To my cousin Fred who helps me out & work as a team. Thank you."

Then Fred had a turn to speak,

"Like to thank Celso Salazar from San Antonio for encouraging me to play the marimba. To my cousin Ben who we work our arrangements & to Frank for encouraging me & now wants me to stop playing marimba full time. Thank you."

As they walked off, Fred & Ben started arguing over what Fred said.

At the Puppy Farm, Lou & Liz dropped by to find Buttercup eating her dog food. After feeding, Buttercup went over to them. Then Liz pulled out a pic of Scott & Matty playing. Buttercup cried,

"That's the runt, that's my baby!"

Lou went over to Grandpa Dewey & asked him if he could adopt Buttercup.

"That's my prize winning dog, she belongs right here. She wouldn't like the city life."

"Please," begged Liz, "She would be happy to see her only child she never raised."

"So that's where the runt ended up!" snapped Grandpa, "I'll just get my gun &..."

"You'll do no such thing!" said a voice. It was Grandma Daisy. "Take that dog back to the city. I'm sure she'll be glad to see her puppy."

Buttercup wagged her tail with joy as she got into the convertible with Lou & Liz.

Back home, Scott & Matty were watching Family Guy reruns. Matty liked watching Uncle Brian on the show.

They saw the episode where Brian & Stewie had an adventure & sang together.

Then the girls arrived home & Liz told Scott to cover Matty's eyes. Liz brought Buttercup in the living room & then she licked her son. Matty was crying for joy, "Momma dog!"

     "Matty, my baby puppy!"

Matty & Buttercup started hugging & licking each other's faces. Buttercup was impressed that Matty could walk on two legs just like a human does & that he's treated like a human, even though he's a dog. Scott then gave each of them a dog treat.

That night in Scott's bedroom, Buttercup saw that Matty sleeps with Scott so she slept in front of them. It was cute.

The night came in New York City for The US Music Awards to be held @ Radio City Music Hall. Eric was excited because The Beach Dudes were being honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award. The band was scheduled to not only do Tropical Breezes, but for Joe to do a solo song with guitar. The show was telecast on QBC with Eli Galveston hosting. We join the show as Eli announced,

"Let's meet an up & coming band that teens talk about. From Five Alive, David Galaga with The N. Main Street Boys!"

Teens started screaming over the hot new boy band when they started singing & playing instruments. David played rhythm guitar & sang lead. Then his friend on the show played a lead guitar solo & as he did, David unstrapped the guitar & went over to the vibes playing a vibes solo.

After their performance, Ray met with them backstage offering them a recording contract with Pacific Records. David & the band thought it was awesome since 35410 & Five Alive were both Erin Arithmetic shows.

Then Joe Roman had a solo performance playing his Washborn electric guitar & singing a ballad. Joe won his award for Best Male Vocalist in a Band.

In the rock category, the audience was surprised that Phoebe & Matt Roman took home a US Music Award.

About 30 minutes later, Eli announced,

"During the summer, you couldn't escape their sound. And when they did a waterpark concert, girls called them hotties wearing Guts. Let's meet the coolest instrumental/sometimes singing band, The White Angels!"

Fans screamed when the spotlight was on Eric & Cody each playing a tympani drumroll, then shouting,

          "White Angels rule!"

They rushed to their drums & the band started playing Tropical Breezes featuring Ben & Fred on the vibes & marimba.

After the song, the band won a US Music Award for Best Pop Band, but lost Best Song. Frank made a speech thanking the fans, family, friends & Ray Walters @ Pacific Records.

Then The Beach Dudes performed some songs before receiving their Lifetime Achievement Award. Eric watched from backstage seeing Zack playing a tympani fanfare/drumroll after their last song.

When the US Music Awards were over, the band showed off their awards as they got interviewed & photos were taken. Eric even had a picture taken with The Beach Dudes' Zack Roberts.

"Eric," Zack said, "If you're ever free from TWA, I'd thought we could do a music video with the both of us playing tympani."

          "What about Cody?"

"No." said Zack, "You're the first drummer of the band. You call me & we'll get started on the music video." Zack got a card out & gave Eric his private phone number.

The band attended a party. The girls got attracted to Ben & Fred talking to them about their achievements. Joe was on the phone with Danny Brown.

In the heat of the party, Frank told Ben & Fred, "Enjoy this, there won't be any vibes or marimba on our next album. We're changing our music."

Fred charged towards Frank & they got into a fight! Ray & Ben had to break it up. Fred told Ray what Frank's plans for the next album were & that he had something to do with it since Ray doesn't like those instruments. Ray told the band to come together as he announced,

"I think it's time The White Angels could use a vacation from each other. You'll be laid of for 6 months & will come back united for The Quahog, Rhode Island Jazz Fest."

The band was shocked, but Joe & Eric were excited. Ray then explained,

"I'll be busy putting a summer concert tour together involving The N. Main Street Boys & my old band, The Harrisburg. It'll be The Erin Arithmetic Concert Tour Series."

Ben & Fred started huddling & then told Ray,     "Ray, Ben & I want to release our own solo album featuring the vibes, marimba & chimes. We'll sing a couple of songs. Since Ray & Frank think were dead weight in the band, maybe we should quit."

"Ben, Fred," Ray reasoned, "I was wrong that those instruments wouldn't fit in. You proved me wrong with all the awards you won. I'll go ahead & arrange the solo project, then you can rejoin the band @ Quahog."

Eric mentioned his project with Zack. And Joe told the band he'll also have a solo album as well featuring Bart & Danny Brown.
