JR & TWA In Rose Bowl Reunion

The story starts @ the hospital where Joe Roman had an appointment with Dr. Colquitt. He was looking forward to having his cast finally removed. Most of the band members autographed Joe's cast, including little kid dog Matty's paw print.

"How's your left arm?" asked Dr. Colquitt after removing Joe's cast. Joe started flexing his arm a few times.

"Feels great!" says Joe, "Now I'll be able to play the guitar again & rejoin the band."

"Just take it easy Joe." said Dr. Colquitt, "And don't get attracted by stalkers. You were very lucky it only turned out to be a wound."

Outside the waiting room, Frank Brandis waited for Joe to come out. Then he saw Joe completely healed & hugged him.

"Man, am I glad you're back in action with the band." says Frank, "Let's go to the studio."

Along the streets, Joe Roman got to drive Frank's motorcycle with Frank in the sidecar.

"Man, it's great to be driving again!" said Joe happily.

At the recording studio, the band threw a little party for the return of Joe Roman. Since he was in a cast, Joe grew a beard & decided to keep the beard. As they were about to have a jam session, Ray Walters informed Joe about the new band members.

Then Ranny played a tympani drumroll as Joe was surprised to see Danny Brown visit the band. As Danny Brown got his electric guitar out of his case, Ranny plays another tympani drumroll as Frank hands Joe his Washborn Joe Roman electric guitar. Ranny stops & goes over to his drums, then both brothers clicked their sticks saying,

          "1-2-3-4!"

The band played Joe's favorite jazz riff with Joe & Danny chunking chords. After the intro, they let Joe play a cool guitar solo with the band backing him up. Joe's still the super guitarist of the band. Then as Danny played his guitar solo, Joe goes over to Bart & tells him to switch instruments. Then Bart plays his guitar solo. After that, all three played together.

After the jam, Danny Brown said,

"Nice to have you back in the band Joe. I got to go to football practice."

As Danny left, Ray Walters calls a meeting with the band.

"Band, we're about to do a cool concert that's being held @ The Rose Bowl. It's also going to be a White Angels reunion concert that will be televised on pay-per-view."

"Why a reunion concert?" asked Jason, "We're still active as a band."

"This concert will have former members appearing in the concert." explained Ray, "Ralph Andretti who's the organist will appear, Cody Mitchell will appear, along with (groans) Eric Hunter."

"Man," Joe says, "My son Scott likes watching Eric on DAP, especially those motorcycle action scenes."

"Just think, 15 White Angels will be together on stage."

"You mean 14." corrected Matt Roman, "I was just a temporary member of the band. I'm going back to the office."

"Nonsense." said Ray to Matt, "Please stay with the band. You can guest appear playing your red guitar & singing a romantic tune. Then you & Joe can perform together just like your Triple Pepperoni days.

Just do this Rose Bowl concert."

Matt agreed to stay with the band.

Back @ the Roman house, Lou & the kids were happy that Joe's cast is gone. But Lou wanted Joe to shave, Joe told Lou Ray likes the beard.

"Joe Roman's back!" he says, "The band & I are doing an awesome show @ The Rose Bowl!"

Just then, little Matty comes by wearing shades & a loud shirt.

"Little kid dog wants to do lunch in Hollywood."

Lou mentioned that while away, they were going to send Buttercup & Matty to the k-e-n-n-a-l. Matty's a smart speller, he started to cry.

"OK Matty, you're going with us." moaned Joe.     "Yippee!" cried Matty.

So the Romans (including Buttercup & Matty) started packing for the big California trip.

The band got to stay @ a fancy hotel, sweet Suites in Beverly Hills. David wondered where's the 90210 & the hotel manager mentions that the 90210 location's @ Lake Charles, Louisiana.

When Scott got some ice for his parents, he heard guitar music coming from a hotel room. After getting the ice, Scott followed the sound & the door opened to reveal he's Matt Roman.

"What do you want Scott?" he asked.

"Can I come in & hear you play?"

Matt let him in & got back on the guitar playing the blues. Matt's a little depressed that he stopped playing & sighed,

"Why did I ever leave music?"

"Why did you quit, Uncle Matt?" asked Scott, "I thought you were the coolest when you teamed up with Phoebe. Girls screamed over you, you had a couple of songs that made the charts. Was it because you married Phoebe that made you unpopular?"

"The critics didn't like me." said Matt, "Phoebe was much better being solo. They told me I had no business or future in music. One critic called me another Chachi Arcola just because I play the same red guitar Scott Baio played. Face it, I can't compete against my brother Joe."

"I know this will sound dumb." Scott stated, "How about joining TWA?"

"You kidding?" asked Matt, "Joe's the star & Bart's his back-up guitarist who plays rhythm & lead. The band doesn't need three guitarists, two is enough."

In the Romans' hotel room, Joe's relaxing watching some pre-season football on tv. The Eagles were playing with Danny Brown quarterbacking. At halftime, Joe saw an interesting feature report.

With Danny Brown's success in winning the Super Bowl & his music career, the San Diego Chargers decided to fight fire with fire. The new rookie quarterback, Max Campbell, also plays the guitar.

"An AFC version of Danny." quips Joe.

Max has a rock band, plays a black Strat electric guitar & sings. Max wears #4 for the Chargers. Fans thought that San Diego made a mistake drafting him, trying to duplicate Philadelphia's success. But Max assures the fans that he was a star quarterback @ Purdue.

"San Diego didn't draft me because of a fad." said Max, "I've been playing the guitar a long time just like Danny Brown. And since we play Philadelphia in the season opener, I'd like to have a jam session with Danny Brown."

After that report, anchor Chris Michaels quips,     "Certainly has been a fad. First, Danny's got a CD that's doing well, then some of The Mighty Ducks made a music video with their stadium organist, Ralph Andretti. What next, the Houston Astros as a string quartet?"

          Joe groaned over that.

Preperations were being made @ The Rose Bowl for the big reunion concert. The camera crew were filming each band member playing solo on their instrument(s), then each band member got to talk about their experiences of being a White Angel. This was for the pay-per-view telecast.

During sound check, Scott got to mess on his dad's guitar with Matty singing with him.

"Pretty good, son." said Joe, "Stick with your Strat & lose the singing dog."

Matty's about to cry until Scott took him to each get a snow cone.

After getting a couple of snow cones & eating them, a couple of thugs stalked them. Then they grabbed Scott & Matty, kidnapping them, tying & gagging them into the van.

From a distance, Liz saw what happened & started running away heading to the police. However, she could only find a motorcycle cop who turned out to be...

"How's the band, Liz? Remember me, I'm Eric."     "No time for small talk." said Liz, "Scott & Matty are kidnapped & had been placed in a white van. You got to save my brother & the dog!"

Eric got to his radio & wired his friends. Then he drove his motorcycle & spotted the van that left the stadium. Along I-210, Eric's pals (Quick Baskin & Mario Slater) joined the chase. The criminals spotted those three & the driver moaned,

          "Not DAP!"

Scott & Matty were tied & gag in back of the van. Matty was wishing he'd been @ the kennal in the first place. Scott was pretty excited that DAP was on the case. Then a gunshot was heard!

"That wasn't a gunshot, we have a flat!" said his partner in crime.

The van pulled along the side of the curb & DAP pulled them over. As they were about to get off their bikes, one crook held Scott hostage with a gun while the other had Matty in his arms.

"Don't move, DAP!" threatened the leader, "One move & Joe's kid gets shot & I throw Matty on the freeway!"

Then the leader suddenly felt being wetted because Matty started whizzing on his pants! The leader dropped Matty & DAP started attacking while Eric saved Matty from danger. Quick grabbed the gun away & started fighting that crook while Mario battled the other crook. Eric untied Scott & Matty. After the police came by & arrested them, Scott was so pumped up.

"Man, being rescued by DAP, cool!" he said, "Can't wait to see myself on tv."

"This wasn't an episode, it's for real." said Eric while they were shocked.

Scott got to ride behind Eric while Quick had Matty in his backpack & they drove back to the Rose Bowl.

When they arrived @ the Rose Bowl, Joe & Lou were relieved that Scott & Matty were fine. Even Buttercup licked her son. Then Eric gave Scott a cool pic of DAP on motorcycles & on their instruments.

That night @ The Rose Bowl, the concert stage was big with all their instruments & more. The show opened with Ranny playing a tympani drum roll while the band came out.

The three hour concert featured performances by the band. David, Jason, Ranny & Danny did a rap number, Frank & Vicki did a trumpet piece, Fred & Ben played their vibes & marimba & fans were happy to have Joe perform a guitar jam with Bart.

In one part, they heard organ music & Frank couldn't believe that it's Ralph Andretti. He wore a Mighty Ducks jersey on stage & had a organ jam session with David. Ralph told the fans that he's still the stadium organist for the Ducks & that he did a music video with some of the Ducks.

Then screams are heard when they see Eric in Guts, playing a tympani drumroll. Eric goes over to Joe & tells him to accompany him on guitar. Eric plays his cool tune, "Eric's Power" with him on tympani & Joe on guitar. After the song, Frank goes over to Eric saying,

"I can't believe I lost him to DAP!" fans scream, "That's right, Eric's an actor on the hit show, DAP! He got the job after his Beach Dudes tv-movie."

In another part, Frank & the band couldn't believe that Spider-Man made an appearance playing a solo on Danny's drums. After his solo, he goes to Frank & takes his mask off. It's Cody Mitchell!

"What have you been up to since you left the band?" asked Frank.

"I work @ Universal Florida as Spider-Man & I got myself into another band. I was responsible for having the coolest brothers to join the band, Ranny & Danny Torgerson!"

Cody puts his mask back on, plays the tympani with Ranny & Danny each playing a drum solo.

          Then Joe told the fans,

"There's one more member who picked up the pieces while I was detained. He may not be a jazz freak, but he's my brother, Matt Roman!"

Fans applauded as Matt came out with his red guitar. Then he played & sang a pop tune with the band backing him up. Girls swooned over his romantic singing voice.

The finale had every band member & former members do a song together. The former members were in their white tuxedoes. Ralph & David shared keyboard duties while Eric played tympani & Cody banged on congas.

When the show was over, the band took a group pic of all The White Angels there's ever been.

Backstage, for a strange reason, Eric wanted to have a weird family photo. The group included him, Fred, Shaun, Danielle (Fred's wife) & Matt. After that pic was taken, Eric said,

"There's something familiar of us in that group photo. But I just can't picture it."

Back home in Philadelphia, Labor Day Night, Joe Roman was in his football uniform watching the Monday Night pre-game show on cable hosted by Chris Michaels.

Chris reported the big game that's coming up between Philadelphia & San Diego. In one segment, he reported,

"Earlier today, for a certain telethon, the two quarterbacks, Danny Brown & Max Campbell dueled it out. Not football, but music. For those local stations that didn't carry that part of the national telethon to cover their local telethon, we present this right now."

Out @ the football field, we find a jazz band with Danny Brown playing a guitar solo. After his solo, another band played rock with Max Campbell playing a guitar solo (both wearing football uniforms).

Then the both of them approached each other & shook hands. Then the both of them jammed on their guitars & sang "You Really Got Me!"

"Now I've seen everything!" quipped Chris.
